Lebanese anti-Syria protesters attending a mass rally in Beirut on Monday. (AP) |
"I am keen that the government will not be a hurdle in front of those who want the good for this country. I declare the resignation of the government that I had the honor to head. May God preserve Lebanon," Karami said.
The resignation was the most dramatic moment yet in the series of protests and political maneuvers that have shaken Lebanon since the assassination of former prime minister Rafik Hariri.
Some 20,000 anti-Syrian protesters took to Beirut's streets Monday to demand the resignation of the government, in defiance of a government ban against demonstrations.
Inside the nearby parliament building, opposition legislators made the same call, with one accusing the government of negligence in Hariri's assassination on February 14.
Hamadeh demanded the dismissal of three chiefs of Lebanese intelligence, the head of the police and the commander of the Presidential Guards.
"You are not more immune than Milosevic and the top Bosnian and Croat military commanders," Hamadeh said, referring to the killers of Hariri and the war crimes trial of former Yugoslavian leader Slobodan Milosevic.
It was the first time the legislature had discussed the assassination of Hariri, who was killed with 16 other people by a massive explosion as his motorcade drove through central Beirut.
The session began with a moment of silence for the slain legislator. Legislators stood for another moment of silence at 12:55 (1055GMT), the exact time Hariri was killed two weeks ago.
In Martyr's Square, some 200 meters from parliament, the demonstrators waved hundreds of Lebanese flags, clambered on to the plinth of the martyrs' statue, and prayed in front of candles at the flower-covered grave of Hariri, which lies at the edge of the piazza.
The demonstrators also demanded the withdrawal of Syria's 15,000 troops in Lebanon, chanting: "We want no other army in Lebanon except the Lebanese army!"
The resignation of the Syrian-backed government in Lebanon is "an opportunity" for the election of a new government that represents the country's diversity, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Monday.
"The resignation of the [Prime Minister Omar] Karami
government represents an opportunity for the Lebanese people to have a new government that is truly representative of their country's diversity," he told a media briefing.
"The new government will have the responsibility of implementing free and fair elections that the Lebanese people have clearly demonstrated they desire," McClellan said.
Israel Radio reported Monday that Beirut's government had agreed to resign last week, but that the commander of Syrian intelligence in Lebanon had forbade it from doing so.
The assassination of Hariri has intensified world and Lebanese opposition pressure for a withdrawal of Syria's forces, who came to Lebanon ostensibly as peace-keepers during the 1975-90 civil war.
Hundreds of soldiers and police ringed the square early Monday in a bid to enforce the government's ban on protests. But they made no serious effort to disperse the demonstrators, many of whom had slept in the square. Some soldiers and police even sympathized with the demonstrators, and were seen advising newcomers on how to evade the cordon.
"You can tell from the looks in the soldiers' eyes, and from their smiles, their true stand," said Hamadeh, who was in the square before going to parliament. Hamadeh himself was the target of a bomb attack in October that killed his driver.
Karami had asked parliament for a vote of confidence, outlining what his pro-Syrian government had done and promising to hold legislative elections as scheduled in April and May.
Hariri's sister, legislator Bahiya Hariri, addressed the parliament in black and called on the government to resign.
"All the Lebanese want to know their enemy, the enemy of Lebanon who killed the martyr Rafik Hariri, those who took the decision, planned and executed it, those who ignored and prevented the truth from coming out," Bahiya said, holding back tears.
Syrian President Bashar Assad, whose government dominates its Lebanese neighbor, said in an interview published Monday that a withdrawal from Lebanon required a settlement with Israel.
"Under a technical point of view, the withdrawal can happen by the end of the year," Assad told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. "But under a strategic point of view, it will only happen if we obtain serious guarantees. In one word: peace."
Syria said Thursday it would redeploy its troops to eastern Lebanon, closer to its border, but they would not leave Lebanon. By Monday, there was no sign of the redeployment having begun.
Visiting U.S. State Department David Satterfield kept up Washington's pressure on Syria by demanding Damascus withdraw its troops from Lebanon "as soon as possible" and ends its involvement in Lebanese affairs.
Satterfield met Lebanese Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hammoud on Monday to reiterate Washington's demand for Syrian troops to leave.
"The time has come for the Lebanese people to be able to face their own national decisions," Satterfield told reporters afterward.
Hariri was seen as quietly opposing Syria's control over Lebanon. He had been expected to stand in parliamentary elections in April or May against Karami.
Opposition leader Walid Jumblatt urged legislators to vote against the government Monday, saying that if the confidence vote is passed, it would be "another assassination of Hariri."
Security forces did manage Monday to stop protesters from reaching the Prime Minister's office, which was cordoned off by soldiers, anti-tank obstacles and barbed wire.
Hundreds of troops, many in armored personnel carriers, set up roadblocks at entrances to central Beirut, turning back flag-waving teenagers, reducing traffic to a trickle, and making the city appear as if it were under siege.
The debate in parliament began late as many legislators were delayed by the traffic jams. Many commuters abandoned their cars on the side of the road and walked through the roadblocks to the city center.
Lebanon says it will cooperate with United Nations investigators currently in Beirut but has refused a full foreign investigation of the killing. Despite official Lebanese and Syrian denials of involvement in Hariri's death, the attack has plunged Lebanon into its worst political crisis in years.
Opposition and Druze leader Walid Jumblatt vowed to continue protests until the government falls.
"We want the truth. Who killed Rafik Hariri?" he said in a telephone interview on Hariri's Future television. He urged the people to "go down today, tomorrow, for a month or two months until the regime falls."
Syria said Thursday it would pull its forces eastward toward its border but will not bring them home. There has been no visible Syrian military movement to the eastern Bekaa Valley in line with a 1989 Arab-brokered agreement that ended the 1975-1990 civil war.
The U.S. State Department has said a withdrawal toward Syria's border was not good enough.
Editor's comment: This piece from Haaretz shows the trumpeting of the Israelis of the near perfect success of another Mossad false-flag operation, as the rogue terrorist state of Israel continues its war against its neighbors.
The assassination of former prime minister Rafik al-Hariri requires us to ask again, as the ancient Romans would ask, Cui bono?, or Who benefits?
With just a cursory look at the known strategic policy papers generated by the neo-cons for the Institute for Advanced Strategic & Political Studies in the wake of the Rabin assassination by Israeli Zionist extremists, we see that the current picture in the region is an almost exact copy of what is stated in a June 1996 report:
Israel can shape its strategic environment, in cooperation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Syria. This effort can focus on removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq — an important Israeli strategic objective in its own right — as a means of foiling Syria’s regional ambitions.
In light of this and the response of the Syrian opposition to the Syrian-backed regime of Lebanese Prime Minister Omar Karami, we need to ask, was the Hariri killing simply in the mold of the 9-11 attacks designed to provoke a sympathetic and patriotic response to cause the rolling back of Syrian influence and the withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanon?
As Christopher Bollyn reports in the February 28 edition of American Free Press,
Like the 9-11 attacks, the murder of Hariri appears designed to influence public opinion and provide a necessary casus belli to justify aggression against Syria.
And since there is no evidence that there was a truck or car bomb involved to cause this massive explosion, what means could have been employed to effect this outcome with certainty?
We note the transfer to Israel by the U.S. of 5,000 bombs, including 500 bunker busters, reported in September of last year. This would have given the Israelis the capability, with the help of Mossad operatives in Beirut, to use the same types of precision laser guided bombs that were used in Iraq with the help of special forces teams, to target Hariri's auto for an air attack. Bollyn reports further,
Based on the size of the crater, estimated to be 30-50 feet across and 9-10 feet deep, an expert told American Free Press that the vehicle bomb would have had to have been several tons in size, not the reported “650 pounds of dynamite.”
Keith A. Holsapple, an expert on craters and professor of engineering mechanics at the University of Washington, examined the photographs of the Beirut crater for AFP.
Holsapple goes on to say in the report by Bollyn,
“If a penetrator weapon was used, the weight would be on the order of one ton, to within a factor of two.”
Bollyn writes further,
A one-ton penetrating bomb, silent and unseen, would explain the huge crater and the fact that there is no evidence of a truck bomb attacking Hariri’s motorcade.
Sam Hamod, an expert on Middle Eastern affairs, wrote, “We must do as they do in other criminal cases, look at who had the most to gain from the assassination of Prime Minister Hariri. The Lebanese had a lot to lose, as did the Syrians.
“No matter where else you look, no one else had anything to gain except Israel and the U.S.,” Hamod wrote. “America quickly pointed the finger at Syria, as did Israel, which was tantamount to convicting themselves, because they are the only two countries that would gain by creating unrest in Lebanon.”
Clearly, the assassination of Hariri only benefits Israel. The attempt to drive a wedge between the Lebanese and the Syrians, is as outlined in the IASPS policy papers outlined above.
This action may backfire on the Israelis since the Shia in south Lebanon are led by the one Arab who has waged a successful campaign against the IDF, causing them to withdraw from Lebanon in May of 2000 after a 22 year occupation.
This man is the leader of Hezbollah, Shi'ite cleric Hasan Nasrullah.
Though the Shi'ites of Lebanon are more closely tied to those of Najaf in Iraq, Nasrullah has a history of support from the Iranians. I doubt that the Israelis or the neo-cons have taken fully into consideration the Nasrullah factor.
Nasrullah has argued the presence of Syrians troops "was a regional and internal necessity for Lebanon" and a "national obligation for Syria".
Though Nasrullah has now called for calm and rational discussion in "the implementation of (UN) Resolution 1559 and the Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon."
It is also clear that Nasrullah will be strongly looking out for his own interests along with the Shi'ites of Lebanon, and also the Syrians, against any outside meddling by the U.S.
Any action by Israel or the U.S. against either Syria, Nasrullah or both, would certainly run the risk of igniting a general uprising among the Shi'ites from Iran and Saudi Arabia throughout Iraq and into Syria and Lebanon.
The continuing actions by Bush and the rogue opertions by Israel run the risk of uniting a Shi'ite crescent in the Middle East which was never possible while Saddam remained in power. This could be a classic example of "blowback," the term used by the CIA which describes unintended negative consequences.

"Residents had been told to step on to their balconies "at their own peril"- for fear that the president's security "might misunderstand the gesture and act accordingly."
by Henk Ruyssenaars
Foreign Press Foundation
FPF - the Netherlands - Feb. 27 - 2005 - A case, symptomatic of the fear the 'Fuehrers of the New World Order' and their fellow travelers have of their fellow human beings - who for the most don't agree with their genocidal politics and behavior - was contrary to the usual now - written about by the Washington Post, but is still very underreported:
"Now the art of press handling has evolved into actual manhandling. The Bush administration has expanded the use of "minders," government employees or volunteers who escort journalists from interview to interview within a venue or at a newsworthy event."*
Anybody who like me has been working as a journalist and foreign correspondent, has experienced getting 'minders' in totalitarian states: the Soviet Union and it's 'allies' with their 'overcoats' controlling journalists, always were the bitter laughing stock among visiting reporters.
I just got back from a visit to Germany, where another sign of the real fear of the Fuehrers was shown by President Bush and some of Washington's leading collaborators in Europe, by fortressing the visited cities,* Which in Germany resulted in Bush and his entourage suffering a hail of insults from the moment Air Force One touched down at nearby Rhein-Main military air base, as journalists Alec Russell in Mainz and Kate Connolly in Berlin reported.
"Air passengers were left fuming as the authorities bowed to the wishes of American officials and took the unprecedented step of clearing the airspace for Mr. Bush's arrival and departure. Hundreds of flights at Frankfurt's main airport were delayed and dozens canceled.
As the presidential entourage sped over the Rhine into the seemingly abandoned city in a snowfall, and along streets lined by police, the imagery was reminiscent of a Cold War summit. Much to the outrage of many locals, five autobahns had been closed, the Rhine was blocked to traffic, and most businesses were shut. Residents had been told to step on to their balconies "at their own peril" for fear that the president's security "might misunderstand the gesture and act accordingly".*
They fear, because they know what happened to Prime Minister Indira Ghandi - the 'leader' of India - who in 1984 ordered an attack on Sikh nationalists.
The dominant figure in Indian politics for over two decades, she was assassinated by Sikh separatists. The assassins were two members of her own bodyguard who riddled her body with gunfire as she walked from her home to her office.
According to different estimates, since 1970 there have been approximately 30 assassinations of heads of state, including Indira Ghandi, the Prime Minister of India, in 1984; her son, Rajiv, in 1991 and Yitzak Rabin, the Israeli Prime Minister, in 1995.
The fear of the Fuehrers is well founded, because they know it can be anybody, anywhere and anytime who can take revenge and punish them for their inhumanity and atrocities. It's only thanks to a billion $ secret service president Bush is still alive, but maybe it's going to be a gardener swinging a spade, or a waiter at the next gala dinner, with all the knifes and forks laid out on the table, who for himself has decided that 'enough is enough.'
Or it may be somebody from the presidential entourage, like some bodyguard in the secret service who has a brother or good friend killed in Iraq, where they get body and mind poisoned by depleted uranium. It can be someone who has a mother or family member dying because they can't afford the hospital and medicines anymore. A man/father out of work or gone broke, or an old member of the NRA: his pension and soon his Social Security stolen the Enron way: the thieves disappearing in the administration's neocon-smoke to their tax havens.
The only one way to solve a problem is by killing?
Or it will be someone who is just fed up with all the massacres, who has been trained at boot camp and learned only one way to solve a problem: by killing.
That's why he Fuehrers fear the moment they'll be a dying 'emperor' like in Shakespeare's play 'Julius Caesar', gurgling in bloody foam the famous line: 'You, too, Brutus?'
Bratislava meeting with Putin was a humiliation
Rather underreported too is the way president Bush turned the last screw to make a definitive 'Brutus' of president Putin by humiliating him in front of the world's TV cameras and other reporters/distorters like CNN. It was a globally seen slap in the face, which one - if you're clever - absolutely shouldn't do with an ex KGB boss.
In England the Independent newspaper put the finger on the sore spot which keeps growing and already has reached 'red alert' status concerning Russia's president Putin: "However he indulged in none of the informal small talk beloved of Mr. Bush, and looked relieved to exit the stage with a stiff handshake, his face taut with pressure. In Russian official circles, the meeting is likely to be seen as a humiliation."*
To rub it in Mr. Bush also used an earlier speech to revel in the success of 'revolutions' in the former Soviet republics of Ukraine and Georgia, ''US made revolutions'' which Moscow opposed.
Mr. Bush said he hoped for similar progress in Belarus and Moldova... Another slap: meaning the US and it's bullied, bribed and blackmailed allies, announced openly that they will try to put under their influence two more former 'Russian' states in the 'big geopolitical game'.
As usual with the overt and covert 'help' plus actions of the NSA/CIA, and their cover organizations, like the 'National Endowment for Democracy' - and the manipulations of some of the so called NGO's, often financed by billionaire and crooked old CIA hand Soros.
The fact that Putin partly 'lost' Ukraine* to the US seems to be some limit; a line has been drawn in the sand of Europe by ex-KGB Chief Vladimir Putin, who not only knows all the tricks but is ruthless - or worse - than an american neoconman. [See Dave Duke: Why is Putin under attack?]
Double Dutch: Fear and Fakes
When american writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge wrote the book* ''Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates'' she wrote about the fear of the people in the Netherlands of being flooded by the water, kept out by the dikes. By putting his finger in the dike - so the fable goes - Hans saved the country and my forefathers from being flooded.
The respected writer had never been to Holland, but when ever more tourists - who had read the book - started asking: "Where Hans has his statue?", the Dutch very fast put up one.*
So it's a fake, but satisfying, this Hans Brinker statue...
'White Haus' propagandist and 'spin Meister' Karl Rove couldn't have done better, and in the same manner the Dutch 'government/management' - secretly follows the US neocon's blueprint for the New World order - slavishly following Washington's - and for them profitable - orders.
In the Netherlands the fear of 'terror flooding' however - through the fake of the ''War on Terrorism'' - is fomented by the mainstream media which are owned by the banking/industry which profits from it. The so called 'official' Netherlands National News Agency (ANP) - using mostly US Newspeak services like AP, CNN and the like - is owned by 'Fentener van Vlissingen', a dutch multinational, seeing to the economical interests of it's malicious multinational Brethren in Holland and elsewhere first.
Globally Holland should be shamed to be # seven as weapons dealer and bloodmoney earners. In cooperation with the US and Israel the main dutch airport Schiphol* is used, legal or illegally: who cares?
After a visit to Washington last week - receiving new marching orders - the abominable dutch minister of foreign affairs Bot (meaning 'blunt' in Dutch, which he is) bluntly announced that according to the law all the new agreements are secret: not much can or should be told of the further taking part of the Netherlands in the US/UK's illegal* wars, he said.
And again the slaves in The Hague are sending more cannon fodder to illegally "Kill & Destroy" poor people in Afghanistan, morally totally wrong and for an unknown - but certainly big - amount of the dutch taxpayers money. And they think they can do this without being held accountable for their misdeeds which are crimes against humanity?
Like everywhere, they try to get away with it by not respecting the law. They, like in the States, rewrite the laws to justify their crimes.
The tide will turn however.
Especially one member (Koenders) of the subdued and with Israel and the US collaborating parliament, questioned it, saying he didn't understand why Dutch troops and planes should take part in american "Kill and Destroy" warfare.
There is no declaration of war on either side, and Afghanistan has never attacked Holland.
We kill the people there however, not knowing even who they are, without any form of investigation or trial.
Unfortunate Fortuyn
That's why the fear at the top - among the not 'Deutsch' - but 'Dutch Fuehrers' - keeps growing, especially after their killing of politician Fortuyn* in May 2002 - who in a landslide victory was going to win the elections, and endangered the 'status quo' of the dutch 'management.'
So they had to kill him to save their flesh pots, but many people started understanding. The Monday night (06-05-2002) when mr. Fortuyn was shot, some kind of revolt started: thousands of people marched to the House of Parliament and the Tower part of it: the place where the treacherous PM Wim Kok was presiding.
For hours they shouted: 'The Government killed him' and 'Murderers!'.
Scenes not seen in the Netherlands for hundreds of years, and the mainstream media showed as little as was possible: to not give the people an impulse or idea.
It was a medieval scene : "Things have to be kept under control if we are to avoid further bloodshed", the govt.'s and mainstream Volkskrant newspaper commented. One of the most hated people - Melkert, the 'Rasputin' of a right wing party that once had called itself 'social democratic' fled the country to the US and it's malicious World Bank, and many saw themselves forced to disappear from the official scene.
In rare interviews afterwards the Fuehrers told about their fear at that moment: while hiding for the hatred and disgust of the electorate outside, behind armed guards and thick walls hiding for the people that once had elected some of them to the parliament to represent them.
THOSE PEOPLE ALL FEEL BETRAYED AND SEE THAT THE LAWS ARE USED AGAINST THEM: NOT TO PROTECT THEM ANYMORE.
Holland: A first 'uprising' in 2002
"The killing of popular politician Pim Fortuyn - May 6th 2002 - pushed the Netherlands into its most serious domestic crisis since World War II. It is inevitable that emotions will run high as a result of this attack, but things have to be kept under control if we are to avoid further bloodshed. There is a huge danger that intense resentment will gain the upper hand in this extremely polarized climate."
Many dutch people - even those who disliked him politically - are now heard saying : "By killing him, they (the present government et al) are trying to silence us. He said what many people were thinking. He was like a paradise bird among crows."
Lying ministers
No wonder the blunt minister of foreign affairs 'Bot' lies: just as the likewise despicable minister of defense/warmongering Henk Kamp, saying that: "According to the Constitution - article 97 - this is to be secret''. They as usual lied about secretly sending up to a thousand troops to Afghanistan, with all the military equipment to go with it: including airplanes and submarines. They are Quislings optima forma!
They always lied about the $ and Euro-billion frauds/deals/thefts which have been going on for decades. And keep lying about all the dirty deals and secret agreements with the US/UK and Israel, concerning the uninformed locals and dutch troops taking part in the (illegal) killing and destroying wars.
Article 97 of the dutch constitution states only that one is obliged to defend ones country.
Supporting and spreading the lies, the Dutch industry information agency ANP quoted Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende as saying ''the new mission did not need parliamentary approval''.
This is a pertinent lie by this Quisling PM, who calls himself a 'Christian' too, like Bush and some of his ilk. The ministers lying - nor the collaborating media - did mention the Article that comes before 97 on the page of the Constitution: Article 96.
Article 96 states that ''taking part in a war only is possible after a debate and an official 'Declaration of War' by the Dutch Parliament (the States General).''
Which has not happened, because many in parliament are not well informed and the people are permanently 'fingered' by collaborating, spinning and faking 'media people'. (NOT journalists).
Here lies a big part of the 'Fear of the Fuehrers' too: when people calling themselves 'journalists' will straighten their cooked spaghetti spines again, and stop serving lies to the people; than the rightfully angry people will start punishing them. Hopefully by the law which they have thrown out. Reacting like they did the night Fortuyn was murdered by them would make it worse though.
People are taking more and more the law in their own hands: like the military-industrial complex has been doing for such a long time.
The people's awakening from their media-zombie-ism, and their justified and angry reactions: there lies the fear among the industrial, military, journalistical and political leadership.
The fear being justly based upon the idea that when enough people really find out about how long, how far - and at what costs to their own lives - they have been taken for the 'Terror Ride of the Century' - paying the fake themselves - they will start a revolution and look for lampposts for the crooks, à la Mussolini.
Capital punishment however is never an acceptable solution:
By treating the war criminals like they did to their victims, one lowers oneself to the same low level they are on: jailing, torturing and killing.
An often heard suggestion is to give'm all 'life' in the infamous Guantanamo concentration camp. Chickens coming home to roost under the Cuban sun.
After an independent 'War Crimes Tribunal' - formed by "people of the law" who will investigate, and apply the International law the Fuehrers c.s. now trample upon.
Law people who NOW speak out and protest, not afterwards.
It'll be a pleasure to report it.

Editor's comment: Another fine offering from our Dutch friend. He shows where the cracks in the dike are beginning, and with a little more pressure, will ultimately cause a flood the likes of which this world has not seen since the Middle Ages and the Reformation. And with it will come a house cleaning that will give the people control over their own destinies once again.
It is a fear of the ruling class, a fear of the people they purport to rule, that has caused them to be so tightly cordoned off by increasing amounts of security. They fear their elitist actions which are becoming increasingly untenable, and are so blatantly oppressive, that they are being openly opposed by the people in ever increasing numbers.
This business of seeing an assassin behind every rock (or bush) is going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back. As I have already pointed out in my previous comments, the U.S. has become a mirror image of the old Soviet system. And it is notable that this has been the intention of these tyrants right from the start.
The Fabian socialists long have had as their objective to merge the east and the west in an image that would take the world and "remould it nearer to the heart's desire." The objective of the collectivists is a New World Order and its world government.
It is only a question of which faction will grab the brass ring, that of winning the geopolitical game that will award control over the bulk of the natural resources to the winner.
To see a good historical analysis and exposé of the collectivists agenda and why the "war on terrorism" is a fraud and a distraction, see The Future is Calling by G. Edward Griffin. Mr. Griffin does a good job, but misses an important aspect of the collectivist scheme that is embodied by the Zionist hegemony in the Middle East and Eretz Israel.
There is a notation from a friend of mine, Col. Donn de Grand Pré, from his days working as an arms negotiator in the Pentagon. During the Ford administration, shortly after the second attempt on Ford's life, the Colonel relates Ford's words, “Something has gone terribly wrong in our country when a president can no longer walk among the people.”
What Ford did not realize was that his Vice President was Nelson A. Rockefeller. It had long been a dream of the Rockefellers to occupy the Oval Office. And what better way to do the occupying than by a little treachery. Of course, it was the "lone nut" theory that has served so well in the past, and still does, that was the cover story of the attacks.
So, it was not that the people hated Ford so much to attempt his assassination, but the evil cabal that has manipulated the events of this country (now for 140 years since the National Banking Act of 1864) at the behest of the international criminals of the banking cartel, i.e., the Rothschilds, et al, who were behind the machinations of the attempts. The Rockefellers were simply their agents and entitled to grab as much power and wealth for themselves as was possible.
It is a far different picture today, with the usurpers epitomized by George W. Bush and his corporate and neo-con cohorts in possession of the levers of power. Now, this evil cabal is enthroned just as we were warned of by our past leaders. It is up to us to reverse this despicable power grab and put things right.
“The true strength of rulers and empires lies not in armies or emotions, but in the belief of men that they are inflexibly open and legal. As soon as a government departs from that standard it ceases to be anything more than “the gang in possession,” and its days are numbered.” H.G. Wells

Advances in Biofuels
Processing corn byproducts to create hydrogen and butanol fuels benefits the environment, reduces petrochemical dependence, and provides a potential new market for farmers.
What Is Butanol?
Butanol is a four carbon alcohol. It has double the amount of carbon of ethanol, which equates to a 25 percent increase in harvestable energy (Btu's).
Butanol is produced by fermentation, from corn, grass, leaves, agricultural waste and other biomass.
Butanol is safer to handle with a Reid Value of 0.33 psi, which is a measure of a fluid's rate of evaporation when compared to gasoline at 4.5 and ethanol at 2.0 psi.
Butanol is an alcohol that can be but does not have to be blended with fossil fuels.
Butanol when consumed in an internal combustion engine yields no SOX, NOX or carbon monoxide all environmentally harmful byproducts of combustion. CO2 is the combustion byproduct of butanol, and is considered environmentally 'green'.
Butanol is far less corrosive than ethanol and can be shipped and distributed through existing pipelines and filling stations.
Butanol solves the safety problems associated with the infrastructure of the hydrogen supply. Reformed butanol has four more hydrogen atoms than ethanol, resulting in a higher energy output and is used as a fuel cell fuel.
Butanol is an industrial commodity, with a 370 million gallons per year market with a selling price of $3.75 per gallon.
Hydrogen generated during the butanol fermentation process is easily recovered, increasing the energy yield of a bushel of corn by an additional 18 percent over the energy yield of ethanol produced from the same quantity of corn.
Advances in Biofuels
Alternative Energy & New Markets for Farmers
By David Ramey
There is abundant biomass present in low value agricultural commodities or processing wastes requiring proper disposal to avoid our pollution problem, for example, the corn refinery industry generates more than 10 million metric tonnes of corn byproducts that are currently of limited use and pose significant environmental problems. Similarly, there are 60 billion pounds of cheese whey generated annually in the dairy industry much of this byproduct has no economical use at the present time and requires costly disposal because of its high biological oxygen demand. These various forms of biomass are inexpensive feedstocks for hydrogen, chemicals and power grade alcohol fuel (butanol) production.
Production of industrial butanol and acetone via fermentation, using Clostridia acetobutylicum, started in 1916, during World War I. Chime Wizemann, a student of Louis Pasture, isolated the microbe that made acetone. England approached the young microbiologist and asked for the rights to make acetone for cordite. Up until the 1920s acetone was the product sought, but for every pound of acetone fermented, two pounds of butanol were formed. A growing automotive paint industry turned the market around, and by 1927 butanol was primary and acetone became the byproduct.
The production of butanol by fermentation declined from the 1940s through the 1950s, mainly because the price of petrochemicals dropped below that of starch and sugar substrates such as corn and molasses. The labor intensive batch fermentation system's overhead combined with the low yields contributed to the situation. Fermentation-derived acetone and butanol production ceased in the late 1950s.
In the 1970s the primary focus for alternative fuels was on ethanol -- people were familiar with its production and did not realize that dehydration (a very energy-consuming step) was necessary in order to blend it with fossil fuels. Nor did we realize the difficulty of distribution, since ethanol cannot be transferred through the existing pipeline infrastructure. The selection of ethanol, a lower-grade, corrosive, hard-to-purify, dangerously explosive, and very evaporative alcohol is the result. Ethanol is still subsidized by the government, since it is not profitable enough to compete with gasoline. Over the past 30 years, however, the very energy-intensive ethanol process has not solved our fuel, power or clean-air requirements.
ABE FERMENTATION
Acetone butanol ethanol (ABE) fermentation by Clostridium acetobutylicum is one of the oldest known industrial fermentations. It was ranked second only to ethanol fermentation by yeast in its scale of production, and is one of the largest biotechnological processes ever known. The actual fermentation, however, has been quite complicated and difficult to control. ABE fermentation has declined continuously since the 1950s, and almost all butanol is now produced via petrochemical routes . Butanol is an important industrial solvent and potentially a better fuel extender than ethanol. Current butanol prices as a chemical are at $3.75 per gallon, with a worldwide market of 370 million gallons per year. The market demand is expected to increase dramatically if green butanol can be produced economically from low cost biomass.
In a typical ABE fermentation, butyric, propionic, lactic and acetic acids are first produced by C. acetobutylicum, the culture pH drops and undergoes a metabolic “butterfly” shift, and butanol, acetone, isopropanol and ethanol are formed.
In conventional ABE fermentations, the butanol yield from glucose is low, typically around 15 percent and rarely exceeding 25 percent. The production of butanol was limited by severe product inhibition. Butanol at a concentration of 1 percent can significantly inhibit cell growth and the fermentation process. Consequently, butanol concentration in conventional ABE fermentations is usually lower than 1.3 percent.
In the past 20+ years, there have been numerous engineering attempts to improve butanol production in ABE fermentation, including cell recycling and cell immobilization to increase cell density and reactor productivity and using extractive fermentation to minimize product inhibition. Despite many efforts, the best results ever obtained for ABE fermentations to date are still less than 2 percent in butanol concentration, 4.46 g/L/h productivity, and a yield of less than 25 percent from glucose. Optimizing the ABE fermentation process has long been a goal of the industry.
With that in mind, a new process has been developed using continuous immobilized cultures of Clostridium tyrobutyricum and Clostridium acetobutylicum to produce an optimal butanol productivity of 4.64 g/L/h and yield of 42 percent. In simple terms, one microbe maximizes the production of hydrogen and butyric acid, while the other converts butyric acid to butanol.
Compared to conventional ABE fermentation, this new process eliminates acetic, lactic and propionic acids, acetone, isopropanol and ethanol production. The fermentation only produces hydrogen, butyric acid, butanol and carbon dioxide, and doubles the yield of butanol from a bushel of corn from 1.3 to 2.5 gallons per bushel. That matches ethanol's track record -- and ethanol fermentations do not yield hydrogen. Commercialization of this new technology has the potential to reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, protect our fuel generation grid from sudden disruption while developing our agricultural base and reduce global warming.
FUTURE
Butanol is a pure alcohol with an energy content similar to that of gasoline. It does not have to be stored in high pressure vessels like natural gas, and can be but does not have to be blended (10 to 100 percent) with any fossil fuel. Butanol can also be transported through existing pipelines for distribution. Butanol can help solve the hydrogen distribution infrastructure problems faced with fuel cell development. The employment of fuel-cell technology is held up by the safety issues associated with hydrogen distribution, but butanol can be very easily reformed for its hydrogen content and can be distributed through existing gas stations in the purity required for either fuel cells or vehicles. Growing consumer acceptance and name recognition for butanol, incentives to agriculture and industry, falling production costs, increasing prices and taxes for fossil fuels, and the desire for cleaner-burning sources of energy should drive an increase in butanol production.
Building new, smaller, turnkey biorefineries of 5 to 30 million gallons per year for small municipalities and surrounding farming communities could introduce state of the art technologies at a faster rate than has been adopted in the past. These local biorefineries would address many overwhelming problems associated with the environment, such as regional landfill burdens, and by disseminating fuel generation throughout the Corn and Bio-Belt, any prospective disruption by terrorism is made more difficult, thus improving “Homeland Security.” Cooperatively owned facilities would allow the agricultural sector to employ more people and retain profits within the local economy, bringing the resulting sevenfold multiplication.
The production of butanol (15,500 BTU/lb. or 104,800 BTU/gallon) and hydrogen (61,000 BTU/lb.) from biomass is not constrained by technological difficulties as is the manufacturing of ethanol (12,800 BTU/lb or 84,250 BTU/gal). New higher-value uses for co products of fermentation are an even more likely source of new revenues and could reduce the cost of butanol and hydrogen.
Recent advances in the fields of biotechnology and bioprocessing have resulted in a renewed interest in the fermentation production of chemicals and fuels, including n butanol. With continuous fermentation technology, butanol can be produced at higher yields, concentrations and production rates.

By COLIN PERKEL, Canada Press
TORONTO (CP) - Notorious Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel has abandoned his long fight to stay in Canada and is slated to be deported to Germany as early as Tuesday, his lawyer said Friday.
Zundel faces immediate arrest and prosecution in Germany for spreading hate.
"He won't be asking for a stay," his lawyer, Peter Lindsay told The Canadian Press.
"This is an unfair process. Everyone has turned their backs on him."
Lindsay said Zundel had given Canadian courts repeated chances to remedy the "unfairness that he has been subjected to and they haven't."
Lindsay said Immigration authorities were not prepared to wait to see whether the Supreme Court of Canada would hear his allegation of judicial bias, the lawyer said.
An Immigration spokesman said they planned to deport him as soon as possible.
"He's in a position now where we can legally remove him and that's our intention," Doug Kellam, of the Canadian Border Services Agency, said Friday
"That will be certainly in the short term."
Zundel is wanted for running afoul of German laws against denying the Holocaust.
"He will be picked up immediately and then arrested," a German official who requested anonymity said Friday.
"If there is an arrest warrant, then we have to prosecute if he's in our jurisdiction."
Of particular importance will be determining whether Zundel, a German national, is responsible for the website that bears his name and what exactly it contains, the official said.
Lindsay had said earlier Friday that he did not expect the deportation to happen for at least another week or two.
"I have it in writing from the Crown that they would warn us before he was deported so we would have a chance to go to court (to seek a stay),"
However, he said later it was obvious they had no plans to wait and there appeared to be little point in trying to remedy the "horribly unfair process."
B'nai Brith Canada demanded Ottawa kick Zundel out immediately.
"There must be no more excuses or further delays," said Frank Dimant, executive vice-president of the Jewish group.
On Thursday, Federal Court Justice Pierre Blais smoothed the way to expel the 65-year-old Zundel.
Blais found Zundel to be a hatemonger who poses a threat to national security because of his close association with white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups that have resorted to violence to press their political and social causes.
Zundel has spent more than four decades in Canada, the last two years in solitary confinement in a Toronto jail under anti-terrorism legislation.
In his 63-page decision cheered by Jewish organizations both in Canada and the U.S., Blais concluded Zundel was a hypocrite who nurtured extremist neo-Nazi views behind a veil of pacifism.
"Zundel's activities are not only a threat to Canada's national security but also a threat to the international community of nations," Blais wrote.
Zundel supporter Paul Fromm of the Canadian Association of Free Expression said he was "bitterly disappointed" because there was no evidence linking Zundel to violence.
"We're not dealing with a man who's a terrorist. He has the wrong political views," Fromm said from Winnipeg.
"That's a shocking departure from what most Canadians think of when they think of a terrorist."
Zundel, a longtime resident of Toronto, moved to the United States where he tried to gain citizenship. He was arrested in Tennessee for overstaying his visa and deported to Canada in February 2003.
His incarceration under controversial provisions that allow for indefinite detention has prompted several rallies in his support.
Despite his long stay in Canada, during which he has had frequent legal battles, Zundel was never able to convert his landed immigrant status into citizenship.
He has long argued the Holocaust never occurred, and that Jews have used the "alleged" atrocities as a way to extort money from the German government.
Last month, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder expressed shame over the horrors of the Nazi era in which six million Jews and others were murdered in concentration camps.

By Andrew Osborn in Bratislava
25 February 2005, The Independent
President George Bush subjected Russia's Vladimir Putin to a public lecture on the fundamentals of democracy yesterday, injecting a chill into a relationship that has - until now - been characterised by bonhomie.
Meeting in the Slovakian capital, Bratislava, Mr Bush emerged from a three-hour meeting with the Russian President joking and smiling and full of warm words. But his frequent references to "Vladimir" and the "fella" were peppered with targeted criticism of the state of democracy in Russia with which the more hawkish members of his administration are said to have lost patience.
An unsmiling, visibly irritated Mr Putin squirmed as he listened to Mr Bush tell a press conference he had been told that Washington had "concerns about Russia's commitment in fulfilling" the "universal principles" of democracy. "Democracies always reflect a country's customs and culture, and I know that," Mr Bush said. "Yet democracies have certain things in common; they have a rule of law, and protection of minorities, a free press, and a viable political opposition."
Mr Putin had wanted to talk about the two countries' joint efforts to combat terrorism but was forced instead to defend his domestic reforms and his commitment to democracy.
For a man who is seldom subjected to such face-to-face criticism and is famously cool under pressure, he looked at times as if he was about to lose his composure. "I respect some of his [Mr Bush's ideas] a lot and take them into account. Others I won't. [Such issues] should not be pushed to the foreground. New problems should not be created that could jeopardise our relationship. We want to develop the relationship."
Russian officials tried to play down the tension by suggesting the two men's relationship had matured to a level where they could now tell each other things they did not want to hear.
The two men could not, however, have looked more different.
Mr Bush looked satisfied that he had obliged Mr Putin to justify his views on democracy and claimed a statement from the Russian leader vowing not to roll it back was the meeting's most important moment.
Mr Putin said: "Russia chose democracy 14 years ago without any outside pressure. It made this choice for itself, in its own interests and for its people and its citizens. It was a definitive choice and there is no turning back." A return to totalitarianism was impossible, he added.
However he indulged in none of the informal small talk beloved of Mr Bush and looked relieved to exit the stage with a stiff handshake, his face taut with pressure. In Russian official circles, the meeting is likely to be seen as a humiliation.
Mr Bush also used an earlier speech to revel in the success of revolutions in the former Soviet republics of Ukraine and Georgia, revolutions which Moscow opposed. Mr Bush said he hoped for similar progress in Belarus and Moldova. Agreements did emerge. These were to prevent Iran and North Korea from acquiring nuclear weapons, to safeguard nuclear facilities in both countries, to regulate the sale of shoulder-fired missiles and to accelerate Russia's entry into the World Trade Organisation.
Editor's comment: Bush is popping the brass buttons on his suit over false impressions. Putin has said that "a return to totalitarianism was impossible."
It looks as if Bush's arrogance has humiliated Putin on the international stage. It is also clear that the noose is tightening as Bush and his neo-con and NWO cohorts move to further isolate Russia from its former Soviet territories, including its closely aligned neighbor Belarus, with continued interference as in Ukraine.
Putin will not take it lying down. He has excoriated the oligarchs only to suffer the incriminations of their heathen brethren in the West and their sycophants in the controlled media. And now Bush adds to the impetus.
Remember, the name of the game is geopolitics. The whole idea of isolating Russia has to do with control of the Caspian Sea oil and gas. Just look at the map and you will see Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine along the pipeline routes to the west of the Caspian.
Corporate greed and profits is the engine behind all of the intrigue. It is a lesson of the ages that mercantilism fails in the long run. All one has to do is look at the remains of the British Empire, and the ruin currently underway for the American Empire.
However this saga continues to unfold, it can only be bad for the entire world. Putin is good for Russia, Bush is bad for the U.S.
By David Duke
February 24, 2005, David Duke
Because of the ongoing escalation of anti-Russian rhetoric both by the American press and President Bush, I have undertaken a short trip to Moscow to interview Russian leaders in an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the real policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin. I plan to write about this issue extensively and incorporate some of the research into my next book. Over the past few days I have met with members of the Duma, some nationalist newspaper editors, and some leaders of the Russian anti-globalist, nationalist community. I even put on my journalist cap and interviewed some of the Jewish publishers! Here is my personal analysis of the conflict that looms between the Anglo-American-Israel Axis and Putin’s Russia.
President Vladimir Putin is no perfect man. He reached his political coming of age in the shadowy intelligence services of the old Soviet Union. In that milieu he learned the highest arts of any spy; subterfuge and camouflage. But in truth, the talents of deceit are honed to a much higher degree in the American political system than in any autocratic nation. In a nation where the government has some influence over media rather than being at the mercy of the unelected, self-appointed media elite, the public official can speak somewhat frankly.
Contrarily, a politician in the United States or Britain must be careful never to speak his mind honestly or he might find himself eviscerated by media which are always on the lookout for the slightest political incorrectness.
The Anglo-American politician must be judiciously careful not to say anything that could even be remotely construed as criticizing even the lowest echelons of Jewish power. For instance, look at the huge flap in London right now over the comments of the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, to an obnoxious Jewish reporter who was hounding him. For simply retorting to the reporter that he was acting like a concentration camp guard you would have thought Livingstone to be a friend of Hitler. The Jewish Board of Deputies and a score of Jewish columnists accused him of denying the realities of Jewish suffering and trivializing the Holocaust – all for simply criticizing a single Jewish reporter. Now they threaten to actually remove this man who was elected by the overwhelming majority of Londoners because of his trivial statement.
Of course one must understand, a Jewish reporter is in effect the enforcer of political correctness. He is the policeman and inquisitor of Jewish supremacism. To criticize one of them is equated in the minds of the media to assaulting a member of the police, the thought police.
Putin has committed a far greater crime in the minds of the Jewish media. He is Russian. A real Russian. Although he came to power with backdoor political manipulation and with the aid of some Jewish allies, underneath he has always had a Russian soul waiting for the chance to assert itself.
So he played the game. In some ways Stalin was his model. Although Stalin fit comfortably into the Jewish milieu of the early Bolshevik revolution with his Jewish wife and many Jewish friends, Stalin was Georgian and he always knew that he could never fit in with the coterie of Jews who upon Lenin’s death circled like vultures around the Russian throne of power. Trotsky, Radek, Kamenov Sverdlov, they were all of the Hebrew cut. They never saw Stalin coming, after all, what could this one lone goy among them do to challenge them? When they finally saw the true face of this utterly ruthless man, it was too late.
The story is now legend, As the Jewish Bolsheviks fought it out ferociously among themselves for power, with Trotsky (Bronstein) as the leading contender, and since Stalin wasn’t Jewish he was the one they felt was no real threat so that they could give some reins of police power. In fact, Stalin helped them literally eliminate each other and he ultimately emerged as the strong man. The purges of the 1920s and 30s eliminated many of the Jewish cliques that dominated the Bolshevik government. Stalin was careful not to completely purge all the Jews from the government and many powerful Jews remained in very important posts, one of the most prominent being Lazar Kaganovich. But Stalin began a policy of re-Russifying the Russian government, after all, he knew the war could not be fought and won without rekindling the Russian patriotic spirit. But he always kept at hand compliant Jews so that the world-wide Jewish love affair with the Soviet State would not be severed.
Some powerful and perceptive Jews in the United States saw the sea change occurring in Russia, and a process began that has ultimately culminated in the very weird reality of former Trotskyite communists, the neocons becoming the dominators of the American conservative movement! The one thing that mitigated early overseas Jewish opposition to Stalin was that they needed Stalin and Russia if they were to overcome what they considered the greatest threat to Jewish supremacism: National Socialist Germany.
The Bolsheviks had installed the Internationale as the national anthem. Stalin replaced it with an old Russian hymn. Advancement once again became based mostly on abilities and not Jewish tribal loyalties and connections. Russians rapidly advanced and occupied the leading the positions in the military and other government structures and by the end of the war the bulk of the Jewish power, although still far greater than their population percentage, was greatly diminished. Russians were motivated by appeals to protect Mother Russia rather than international worker solidarity. However, Russia was still crippled and saddled by the inept and corrupt system of Jewish communism, and although some improvements in Russian life occurred, this Marxist, flawed economic system could never give the Russian people either real freedom or prosperity.
Most mainstream Jewish sources now claim that Stalin planned a “final solution” to the Russian Jewish problem by the resettlement of the Jews into a their own republic, much like the Czarist Pale of Settlement created in earlier centuries. The same Jewish authorities actually boast in the idea, whether real or fanciful, that Stalin’s Jewish doctors along with Lazar Kaganovich murdered Stalin on the very eve of his new pogrom. Kaganovich himself claimed to his nephew that he and his sister Rosa, a doctor, poisoned Stalin by switching Stalin’s pills with ones that would cause a stroke. (From which he died)
When the Gentile communist Nikita Khruschev accused Kaganovich in 1957 at a Soviet Party Congress of having murdered 20 million Russians during his career, Kaganovich didn’t even deny it. He only accused Khruschev of being a murderer too. “Your hands are blood-stained too,” Kaganovich told him. Khruschev pointed out that the difference was that he, Khruschev, had merely followed Kaganovich’s orders, while it had been Kaganovich who had formulated the policies of mass murder and had given the orders for carrying out those policies.
It is impossible that Vladimir Putin is not aware of all these things. Every knowledgeable Russian is aware of them. And with the fall of Communism and the new state that emerged, Jews reasserted their power as they not had since the time of Lenin and Trotsky. In the two years following the fall of the Soviet State, through international Jewish capital and massive bribery, threats, murder and gangsterism, Jews seized control of most of wealth of Russia in undoubtedly the greatest series of criminal thefts in the history of mankind.
The Jewish Oligarchs (10 of 11 of the most powerful were Jews) grabbed control of at least 65 percent of the wealth of Russia. The most politically active of the leading oligarchs was a vicious gangster and murderer named Boris Berezovsky. At one point Putin aligned with him in his quest for power. There was even an article in the Moscow Times newspaper about how Putin used to vacation in Berezovsky’s summer house in Spain.
Berezovsky had risen under Boris Yeltsin as the head of National Security for Russia. But, a firestorm of justified anger broke out in Russia against him when it was learned that Berezovsky, the head of Russian security was also a citizen of Israel.
As Putin gained more and more power in the Russian hierarchy he began to assert himself and eventually broke with Berezovsky and Gusinsky and a number of the Jewish Oligarchs. Since that time their have been thousands of sympathetic articles about Berezovsky and Gusinsky and articles about the lawlessness of Putin for daring to prosecute these men. Recently, Berezovsky’s biggest critic was gunned down on the streets of Moscow. Now this is the kind of man that the Jewish-dominated media loves!
Putin has not acted against all of the Oligarchs. He was too much of a cold war chess player to do that, but he went against any of them who tried to assert power over him, much like Stalin did decades earlier. Berezovsky and Gusinsky (the gangster Gusinsky who was head of the Russian Jewish Congress) are now Putin’s most bitter enemies. No other leader in the western world would dare to go after such powerful Jewish supremacist.
The latest case is that of Michael Khodorkovsky of Yukos Oil. Through graft and corruption Khodorkovsky obtained billions of dollars of oil leases for a pittance in the mid-nineties. But as he amassed his incredible wealth he decided he had the right to determine the political fate of Russia. In fact, he had the chutzpah to boast of that fact he will buy the Russian Duma. Putin, feeling threatened, and rightfully so, questioned why a man who stole billions of dollars from the Russian people then would have the right to corrupt government the same way as he obtained his oil leases. Khodorkovsky and almost all of the principle stockholders of Yukos are not only Jews but are in fact Israeli citizens, and many of the major stockholders (criminals) are now hiding out in Israel with the blessing of the Israeli government.
Putin and his government initiated prosecutions of these Jewish supremacist gangsters that have committed the worst thievery in history.
The reaction from the Jewish-dominated press in America and around the world is quite predictable. There has been a crescendo of criticism of Putin and universal defense of the “persecuted” Jewish oligarchs. Putin has even been accused of “anti-Semitism” for prosecuting these criminals.
Because Putin believes that the Russian people should own the press rather than citizens of Israel, he is called an enemy of a free press. Yet, how can any press be free when it is controlled by a people who view themselves more Jewish than Russian and have their own clear international agenda? And today, as Bush calls for Russia to have a free press (translated: the Jewish criminal oligarchs such as Jewish mafia leader Berezovsky should control the press) they call on Russia to pass laws and prosecute Russians who dare to simply criticize the Jewish criminal oligarchs and the their allegiances to Israel and Jewish supremacism rather than to Russia and Russians.
Bush has even had the hypocrisy to criticize Putin for consolidating Russian federal power. In America the federal government literally spends one thousand times more money on the federal government than does Russia. As shocking as that might sound for most Americans to read, it is fact. America spends about 4 trillion on government; Russia spends less than 40 billion! And Bush has the chutzpah to talk about consolidation of power in Russia!
The American government has become the epitome of everything we once opposed. Russia is not communist any more, but the American government, under the domination of the Jewish neocons (who are former communists) acts more and more like the communists have acted for decades.
Bush criticizes Putin and Russian freedom while he works to take away American constitutional freedoms with the Patriot Act.
While the political mafia that controls America kept opposition candidates such as Ralph Nader off many state ballots, Russia had over 20 different parties on the ballot in their National elections.
In America where only two parties control almost the entire political landscape and there’s hardly a dime’s worth of difference, (such as on the Iraq War) Russia is represented by many parties in their Duma with a wide range of political philosophies and opinions.
Russians of every possible political opinion have representation in the Duma (Congress) while tens of millions of Americans have no voice at all in government for their political opinions. It is precisely why the American founding fathers rebelled against Britain: taxation without representation!
And in the midst of this concerted attack on Putin and Russia, where is the opposition to the still existent, extremely dangerous, still communist nation of China? Patrick Buchanan put it very well in a recent article:
Why are McCain and Lieberman bullyragging Russia but not China? After all, Putin was elected, but Hu Jintao was not. Russia has an elected legislature with opposition parties. China has never held a free election. The Russian people have freedom of religion. China persecutes Christians. Russia threatens no U.S. ally. China threatens Taiwan. In a recent issue of Parade, a list was drawn up of the world’s 10 worst dictators based on their human rights violations. Hu Jintao was fourth from the top. Putin was not even mentioned.
There is only one reason for the attacks upon Putin and Russia. Putin and the Russian people dare to defend themselves from the powers of Jewish supremacism. The oligarchs and the Zionists want total supremacy over the Russian nation, and that’s why they have made Putin a target. Their puppet George Bush, just as in the Iraq war, is happy to serve these masters of the American political landscape. It is not just leaders of AIPAC that are being investigated for spying who should wear the yellow coat of treason, George Bush has surrendered his presidency completely to this foreign power and shames every real American who has pride in our country.
The truth is that Putin in attempting to defend Russia from the power of the Jewish supremacists – is in effect, defending all Americans, and all people everywhere who cherish their freedom and heritage. He is Russian rather than American, but his heritage is far closer to the American people and our interests than the Jewish supremacist misanthropists.
The biggest roadblock to the New World Order and a sublimation of America and Europe to Jewish-supremacist globalism is Vladimir Putin.
As important a figure as Putin is for every freedom-loving Russian, he is just as important to those who love freedom in the United States of America, in Britain and all over the European world.
Editor's comment: In this article, David Duke does a masterful job of exposing what is hidden by the compliant media in the U.S., that there is in fact a Jewish oligarchy, or plutocracy, which controls the mass media and keeps the people in ignorance.
Duke even offers a brief history lesson of the Soviet Union. And the comparisons of what the U.S. has become - a mirror state of the old Soviet system - with the betrayal of the old classic liberal political philosophy and the hijacking of the conservative right by the neo-cons.
In its current guise of false freedom, freedom to do only what the government permits, or licentiousness, it seems the people have become content with this kinder and gentler form of tyranny. I question though if there can be a kinder and gentler form of tyranny; a tyranny is a tyranny.
Our form of government was specifically intended to be a servant of the people. This is clearly no longer the case. Long ago the bureaucracy, now in the form of techno-socialism, has long had as its goal the complete and utter ahnihilation of anyone who might oppose its ever increasing expansion and power.
The bureaucracy is only interested in its own survival. Every expansion of it entails a decrease in liberty. It has become a form of legal plunder under the guise of acting for "the general welfare" and is virtually unassailable by the people.
We are reminded of just what happens when a form of legal plunder usurps the law by the following quote from the classic by Frederic Bastiat, The Law. (As a gift from us, you may have a free download.)
"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it."
The very same forces behind the recent looting of the wealth of Russia and the Bolshevik Revolution, were behind the historical and current plunder of the wealth of the people of the United States, and most of the rest of the world as well. And that is the international bankers.
"Give me control over a nation's currency, and I care not who makes its laws." Mayer Amschel Rothschild
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." Thomas Jefferson
"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. ... corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavour to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." Abraham Lincoln
If one were to examine the domestic policies of the U.S. administrations of Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt, and also the domestic policies of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, we would see that World War II was not fought by democracy against fascism, but by two competing forms of fascism. The entire difference being that the European form eschewed the plutocrat controlled international bankers, and the U.S. and England were in bed with them. It remains the same unto today with the question of Putin and Russia.

Europe is tacitly condoning the Bush regime's appalling practices
By Victoria Brittain
February 24, 2005, The Guardian
George Bush is this week having an extravagantly orchestrated series of meetings with Europe's leaders, designed to show a united front for the creation of democracy around the world. Tony Blair talks of our "shared values". No one mentions the word that makes this show a mockery: torture.
It is now undeniable that the US administration, at the highest levels, is responsible for the torture that has been routine not only, as seen round the world in iconic photographs, at Abu Ghraib, but at Guantánamo Bay and Bagram. Meanwhile, in prisons in Egypt, Jordan and Syria (and no doubt others we do not know about), Muslim men have been tortured by electric shocks to the genitals, by being kept in water, by being threatened with death - after being flown to those countries by the CIA for that very purpose.
How can it be that not one mainstream public figure in Europe has denounced these appalling practices and declared that, in view of all we now know of cells, cages, underground bunkers, solitary confinement, sodomy and threatened sodomy, beatings, sleep deprivation, sexual humiliation, mock executions and kidnapping, President Bush and his officials are not welcome? Perhaps it's not surprising given the British army's own dismal record in southern Iraq. Why has no public figure had the honesty to admit that the democracy and freedom promised for the Middle East are fake and mask US plans to leave Washington dominant in the area? And why does no one say publicly that what is really happening in the "war on terror" is a war on Muslims that is creating a far more dangerous world for all?
From the flood of declassified material from Guantánamo, from recent reports by the military that reveal evidence of abuse and even deaths at Bagram being destroyed, from the war between the FBI and the CIA about who is responsible for the interrogations, from the utter confusion about who is to be responsible for the prisoners who will never be released, one thing is clear: even in its own terms, the torture strategy is a failure.
A s far back as September 2002, a secret CIA study into the Guantánamo detainees suggested that many were innocent or such low-level recruits to the Taliban forces that they had no intelligence value whatever. You do not have to be a specialist in torture to know that after a short period anyone will confess to anything to stop the pain. Men in Guantánamo have been interrogated more than 100 times - always shackled, always the same questions. No wonder prisoners simply stop answering. No wonder there are so many unconvincing confessions.
Now The Torture Papers - 1,249 pages of government memos and reports, edited by Karen Greenberg, the executive director of the centre on law and security at the New York University School of Law - shows the American government to be guilty of a "systematic decision to alter the use of methods of coercion and torture that lay outside of accepted and legal norms".
The young women interrogators in Guantánamo who put red ink in their pants, then smeared what appeared to be menstrual blood on devout Muslim men, and mocked them by turning off the water so they could not wash before prayers, did not dream up such an idea and send home for red ink. It was policy. Like the wearing of lacy underwear - only - for work sessions, it was designed to humiliate and break men. These reports have come from an army translator, Eric Saar, as well as from prisoners. Lawyer Michael Ratner of the New York Centre for Constitutional Rights, which represents over 100 prisoners, said it reminded him of "a pornographic website - it's like the fantasy of these S and M clubs".
The lack of moral courage that prevents our leaders, religious as well as political, from speaking out against all this is deeply disturbing. Either they choose not to know or, by not speaking out, they tacitly condone it.
Whichever it is, their behaviour is in stark contrast to the dignity of the relatives of the prisoners, or of the returned prisoners in many countries. The care and concern that many of them display to the isolated, the sick, the frightened and the traumatised among the families are a testimony to the very best of the human spirit. If only these were the shared values that Tony Blair liked to highlight. These men are driven by a feeling of responsibility for trying to end the ordeal of those 540 men still at Guantánamo, including six UK residents. Among these are a Palestinian refugee, Jamil el Banna, and an Iraqi, Bisher al Rawi, men who have lived here for 10 and 20 years respectively, have families here, and who the foreign secretary shamefully refuses to bring home from hell.
Editor’s comment: The torture scandal that erupted with the revelations of Abu Ghraib has proved to be just the tip of the iceberg. With more recent revelations, it has been shown that this is official U.S. Government policy.
The originators of this policy, Jay S. Bybee, Alberto Gonzales and Michael Chertoff have all been rewarded by Bush for their fomentation of these criminal acts. Bybee has received a Federal judgeship, Gonzales is now the U.S. Attorney General and Chertoff the Homeland Security czar.
This situation has now become a clear and present danger to the people of the United States. If the authors of this policy have apparently gotten away with these international criminal acts, then what is to stop them from implementing these same policies domestically on political opponents?
It is also clear that as long as the people tolerate this official policy of abuse they can not offer anything but a mea culpa and accept the judgment of God for these crimes, which is sure to come.
By not holding the elected officials of Congress and government appointees to the historical standards of the rule of law that is the foundation of our government, the people have now become accomplices to the fact. It is from their inattention to the business of government that these tyrants and usurpers now prevail. And it is equally so nationally as well as internationally. It is this complacency and the unwillingness to sacrifice any personal deprivations that will lead to the downfall of the very system that so many call "our way of life."
While Bush and his lackeys are overseas mending fences and imploring European allies to remain part of the “coalition of the willing,” it remains to be seen if enough bribes can be spread around to keep the Europeans, especially France and Germany, from drifting toward closer relations with Moscow and an eventual dethroning of the petro-dollar in favor of the Euro in the increasingly tense oil trading scene.
We shall see when OPEC meets in Isfanhan, Iran on March 16th just what will be the course of action the cartel will take to stem the tide of losses from the continuing slide of the dollar in foreign exchange.
Meanwhile, the continued wheeling and dealing by China, Japan, European and other countries to secure vital access to oil and gas will continue. And the greed of corporate profits will likely continue to drive the war effort until the people simply say “enough.”
We recall now the timeless words of Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 B.C.), the great Roman orator and statesman:
“Power and law are not synonymous. In truth, they are frequently in opposition and irreconcilable. There is God's Law from which all equitable laws of man emerge and by which men must live if they are not to die in oppression, chaos and despair. Divorced from God's eternal and immutable Law, established before the founding of the suns, man's power is evil no matter the noble words with which it is employed or the motives urged when enforcing it. Men of good will, mindful therefore of the Law laid down by God, will oppose governments whose rule is by men, and if they wish to survive as a nation they will destroy the government which attempts to adjudicate by the whim of venal judges.”
And:
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”
WAKE UP, AMERICA! TAKE BACK YOUR COUNTRY!

Nearly 40 years ago, Federal Reserve chair Alan Greenspan wrote persuasively in favor of a gold monetary standard in an essay entitled Gold and Economic Freedom. In that essay he neatly summarized the fundamental problem with fiat currency in a few short sentences: “The abandonment of the gold standard made it possible for the welfare statists to use the banking system as a means to an unlimited expansion of credit… In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value… Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the ‘hidden’ confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists’ antagonism toward the gold standard.”
Today, however, Mr. Greenspan has become one of those central planners he once denounced, and his views on fiat currency have changed accordingly. As the ultimate insider, he cannot or will not challenge the status quo, no matter what the consequences to the American economy. To renounce the fiat system now would mean renouncing the Fed itself, and his entire public career with it. The only question is whether history will properly reflect the destructive nature of Mr. Greenspan’s tenure.
I had an opportunity to ask him about his change of heart when he appeared before the House Financial Services committee last week. Although Mr. Greenspan is a master of evasion, he was surprisingly forthright in his responses to me. In short, he claimed he was wrong about his predictions of calamity for the fiat U.S. dollar, that the Federal Reserve does a good job of essentially mimicking a gold standard, and that inflation is well under control. He even made the preposterous assertion that the Fed does not facilitate government expansion and deficit spending. In other words, he utterly repudiated the arguments he made 40 years ago. Yet this begs the question: If he was so wrong in the past, why should we listen to him now?
First, the Federal Reserve does not mimic a gold standard by any measure. The clearest example of this lies in our current account deficit, which our fiat currency encourages. Under a gold standard we would not have exchange rate distortions between the Chinese renminbi and the U.S. dollar, for example. True currency stability is impossible when fiat dollars can be produced at will and foreign lenders bankroll our deficits.
Second, inflation is a much greater problem than the federal government admits. Health care, housing, and energy are three areas where costs have risen dramatically. The producer price index is rising at the fastest rate in seven years. Bond prices are rising. To suggest that rapid expansion of the money supply and artificially low interest rates do not ultimately cause price inflation is absurd.
Third, Fed policies do indeed have adverse political ramifications. Fiat currency and big government go hand-in-hand. Without a gold standard, Congress is free to spend recklessly and fall back on monetary expansion to pay the bills. Politically, it’s easier to print new dollars than raise taxes or borrow overseas. The Fed in essence creates paper reserves that enable Congress to undertake spending measures that far exceed tax revenues. The ill effects of this process are not felt by the politicians, who can always find popular support for new spending. Average Americans suffer, however, when their dollars are “confiscated through inflation,” as Mr. Greenspan termed it.
It’s not enough to question the wisdom of Mr. Greenspan. Americans should question why we have a central bank at all, and whose interests it serves. The laws of supply and demand work better than any central banker to determine both the correct supply of money in the economy and the interest rate at which capital is available – without the political favoritism and secrecy that characterize central banks. Americans should not tolerate the manipulation of our economy and the inflation of our currency by an unaccountable institution.
Dr. Ron Paul is a Republican member of Congress from Texas.
Editor's comment: Ron Paul nails it again on the cause of our economic troubles and the excesses of government.
Though it is unlikely we will return to a 100% gold backed monetary system, it is likely that gold will be used as a means to control the inflationary aspects of a fiat system. This was the crux of the Bretton Woods Agreement on which the International Monetary Fund is based.
That Agreement was scrapped whe Richard Nixon closed the gold window on August 15, 1971. This one act did away with any hope of controlling rising deficit spending and also the trade deficit. The Federal Reserve System and the Bank of England is at the root of this historic swindle. To learn more, see the timeless essay by Pastor Sheldon Emry, Billions for the Bankers, Debts for the People.
Gold is a powerful inhibitor to the tendency of dishonest governments and politicians to inflate the money supply. It's weakness is that it is a commodity, and as all commodities is subject to fluctuations in value. This can be eliminated once the change is established since the inflationary aspects of a fiat system are what have a tendency to drive commodity prices upward as the value of the currency they are traded in declines due to inflation.
We can only say that the best place to be right now is in silver. The coming bull market in metals is on the verge of exploding. And the fundamentals tell us that silver will appreciate the most on a percentage basis, even more than gold, because of the extreme price manipulation and short paper sales used to effect that manipulation, not to mention the physical shortfall in supply.
You can buy silver bullion and take delivery, or you can take posssession of the best alternate currency in the nation today from NORFED. The NORFED Solution is Simple: STOP using "their" money. Start using the Gold and Silver Liberty Dollar.
They are back, legal and profitable..

Scott Ritter, appearing with journalist Dahr Jamail yesterday in Washington State, dropped two shocking bombshells in a talk delivered to a packed house in Olympia’s Capitol Theater. The ex-Marine turned UNSCOM weapons inspector said that George W. Bush has "signed off" on plans to bomb Iran in June 2005, and claimed the U.S. manipulated the results of the recent Jan. 30 elections in Iraq.
Olympians like to call the Capitol Theater "historic," but it's doubtful whether the eighty-year-old edifice has ever been the scene of more portentous revelations.
The principal theme of Scott Ritter's talk was Americans’ duty to protect the U.S. Constitution by taking action to bring an end to the illegal war in Iraq. But in passing, the former UNSCOM weapons inspector stunned his listeners with two pronouncements. Ritter said plans for a June attack on Iran have been submitted to President George W. Bush, and that the president has approved them. He also asserted that knowledgeable sources say U.S. officials "cooked" the results of the Jan. 30 elections in Iraq.
On Iran, Ritter said that President George W. Bush has received and signed off on orders for an aerial attack on Iran planned for June 2005. Its purported goal is the destruction of Iran’s alleged program to develop nuclear weapons, but Ritter said neoconservatives in the administration also expected that the attack would set in motion a chain of events leading to regime change in the oil-rich nation of 70 million -- a possibility Ritter regards with the greatest skepticism.
The former Marine also said that the Jan. 30 elections, which George W. Bush has called "a turning point in the history of Iraq, a milestone in the advance of freedom," were not so free after all. Ritter said that U.S. authorities in Iraq had manipulated the results in order to reduce the percentage of the vote received by the United Iraqi Alliance from 56% to 48%.
Asked by UFPPC's Ted Nation about this shocker, Ritter said an official involved in the manipulation was the source, and that this would soon be reported by a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist in a major metropolitan magazine -- an obvious allusion to New Yorker reporter Seymour M. Hersh.
On Jan. 17, the New Yorker posted an article by Hersh entitled The Coming Wars (New Yorker, January 24-31, 2005). In it, the well-known investigative journalist claimed that for the Bush administration, "The next strategic target [is] Iran." Hersh also reported that "The Administration has been conducting secret reconnaissance missions inside Iran at least since last summer." According to Hersh, "Defense Department civilians, under the leadership of Douglas Feith, have been working with Israeli planners and consultants to develop and refine potential nuclear, chemical-weapons, and missile targets inside Iran. . . . Strategists at the headquarters of the U.S. Central Command, in Tampa, Florida, have been asked to revise the military’s war plan, providing for a maximum ground and air invasion of Iran. . . . The hawks in the Administration believe that it will soon become clear that the Europeans’ negotiated approach [to Iran] cannot succeed, and that at that time the Administration will act."
Scott Ritter said that although the peace movement failed to stop the war in Iraq, it had a chance to stop the expansion of the war to other nations like Iran and Syria. He held up the specter of a day when the Iraq war might be remembered as a relatively minor event that preceded an even greater conflagration.
Scott Ritter's talk was the culmination of a long evening devoted to discussion of Iraq and U.S. foreign policy. Before Ritter spoke, Dahr Jamail narrated a slide show on Iraq focusing on Fallujah. He showed more than a hundred vivid photographs taken in Iraq, mostly by himself. Many of them showed the horrific slaughter of civilians.
Dahr Jamail argued that U.S. mainstream media sources are complicit in the war and help sustain support for it by deliberately downplaying the truth about the devastation and death it is causing.
Jamail was, until recently, one of the few unembedded journalists in Iraq and one of the only independent ones. His reports have gained a substantial following and are available online at dahrjamailiraq.com.
Friday evening's event in Olympia was sponsored by South Puget Sound Community College's Student Activities Board, Veterans for Peace, 100 Thousand and Counting, Olympia Movement for Justice & Peace, and United for Peace of Pierce County.
Right-wing Jewish extremists
led by 'Hillboys' start 'Intifada III'
By Jim Betker
The extremists have turned to shouting insults against officials, accusing them of being Nazis and dragging up the Holocaust according to Haaretz. One policewoman who suffered a broken collar bone in the recent unrest remarked with tears in her eyes, that “what hurt the most was being called a Nazi.”
It is estimated that 130,000 people showed up for a demonstration in Jerusalem against the disengagement plan. Haaretz goes on to say, "With people just beginning to worry over what will happen in the Katif Bloc when the disengagement starts, the right-wing extremists showed the whole country a small sample of what they're planning for before, during and after the evacuation. Blocking intersections and major traffic arteries, burning tires, disrupting life in every possible way. Like the bad guys in the cowboy movies who ride in and take over town, sowing panic and fear."
The extremists have threatened several Israeli government officials, including Sharon. The Shin Bet, Israel's internal security force, "estimates that there are several dozen potential assassins at large in Israel right now," according to Zev Chafets in the New York Daily News.
"The hillboys are Al Qaeda in yarmulkes, and, like Al Qaeda, they are armed - mostly with weapons stolen from Israeli Army units,” writes Chafets. And a senior intelligence official is quoted as saying, "There are probably 500 Israelis who completely identify with them. But they have a lot of sympathizers among settlers and right-wing rabbis. They have supporters in the U.S., too, mostly in New York. Kach types,'" according to the Daily News article.
The Kach group, was founded by the now deceased Rabbi Meir Kahane, a former member of the Knesset, who has been discredited as an extremist and avowed opponent of the peace process. The Kach group has been outlawed in both Israel and the U.S.
A former leader of Kach, Noam Federman, who was charged with three other men in an April, 2002 bomb plot, as reported by BBC News, against an Arab girls' school in east Jerusalem, "is currently being held in administrative detention in Israel, which is a form of preemptive incarceration normally used against suspected Arab security threats," writes Chafets in the Daily News.
Haaretz reports further that "Benzi Lieberman, chairman of the Yesha Council of Jewish Settlements, considered a moderate compared to the Kahane groupies and the hilltop youth, is threatening to flood the Katif Bloc with tens of thousands of people. 'Let's see how you deal with that,' he says."
Clearly, this shows there is much internal strife between the theocratic-oriented Zionist right, although the Chabad Hasidic Jews are not suspected of being involved in any incidents, and the secular Likud bloc of Zionists. And now the strife has expanded to include more moderate elements of Yesha Council.
The assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995 by a 27 year-old Jewish law student named Yigal Amir was the first major event in what has since become a long string of incidents involving the extreme right wing settlers.
The incidents have increased in recent weeks as the protesters have targeted ministers and other government officials, including Education Minister Limor Livnat and Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who found a tire slashed on his car after a wedding reception east of Tel Aviv.
The hillboys, it is feared by Shin Bet, want "to commit an act that will change reality." Information provided in Chafets' Daily News article by a former military intelligence officer relates, "The real nightmare is one of these hillboys on a dark night with a shoulder-launched missile that can hit Al Aqsa from 1,000 meters. Talk about altering reality! Blow the roof off the mosque, and what happened after the World Trade Center will seem like a sideshow."
This is the reality of potential terrorism perpetrated against Israelis by Israel's al-Qaida in its efforts to derail the peace process. And it is indicative of the paradigm of perpetual war that is exemplified by past and present Israeli and U.S. policies.
